SGI - Senior Advisor: Darryl Smith
Mr. Smith has extensive situational leadership experience gained from his military service. Mr. Smith was a logistics officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Captain. He served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was awarded two Navy Commendation Medals for outstanding achievement and service.
Mr. Smith earned a B.S. in Economics from the United States Naval Academy and has an MBA from the Wharton School. While at the Naval Academy, Mr. Smith received the Superintendent’s Leadership Award, and gained experience in operational improvement and leadership.
He is a Founding Partner of Fidelis Capital Partners, a buyout firm focused on small to mid-cap companies. Prior to forming Fidelis, Darryl was a Vice President of Portfolio Operations at Platinum Equity, a $7 billion privately held company. Platinum specializes in acquiring undervalued or poorly managed businesses from leading corporations in North America and Europe.
Prior to joining Platinum, Mr. Smith was a Senior Manager at Accenture, a global consulting and technology services firm. As a consultant, Mr. Smith advised senior executives on a number of strategic and supply chain management issues. His focus areas included strategic sourcing, distribution networks and economic value-add. Darryl led or supported numerous initiatives including strategy formulation, process re-engineering and organization design.
